Malae on "[Plugin: UpdraftPlus Backup and Restoration for WordPress] Canot update from Udraft 1.9.0 to 1.9.4"

More repeated aborted backups on one site, but I finally found the cause of the issues. After running several months with no serious issues, my problems started when the plug-in was updated from 9.0 to 9.4, when I had trouble needing to reconfirm my authentication with Google Drive. This appeared to be fixed with the update to 9.5, which corrected the issue that backups were not uploaded successfully if you were using both an encrypted database and Google Drive storage in 1.9.4, as I was.

I had re-authenticated one of the two Google Drive accounts from scratch, but still one site always failed the automatic back-up needing manual intervention, and neither was pruning the old back-up files. Finally after reading and rereading the instructions I found that I had missed an important point that you must open two

Projects

and not just two

Client IDs

. I had missed this simply because two client IDs had always worked before. Lesson: read every word of the current instructions, they may have changed or be more important than previously!

I now have had two consecutive automatic weekly back-ups on both sites. Google Drive has issues, but once sorted it is very reliable and this is a great plug-in performing an important task. My thanks to David.
