jteusa, sorry man that was some time ago. I (at the time of the post) was still unable to restrict access on a per cat basis. They MAY have made some changes to s2member by now. Actually I am dev'n a new site now thats gonna use s2member, hopefully it does now.
If I were you to be safe, I would use something else thats NOT a custom post type.. something that WP has native, like maybe tags CREATED natively with WP ..and then base restriction off of that.
