Hello,

We have been using UpDraftPlus Backups plugin for over a year on all our sites and it works great. But ever since we installed the AWS for WordPress Plugin on one of our site (also known as Amazon Polly) to direct viewer’s traffic to AWS CloudFront, the UpDraftPlus plugin stops syncing with AWS S3 bucket. We’re able to create backups and can download the backup locally but it’s not pushing the S3 bucket. I read another forum that the problem is that the Amazon Polly plugin is using AWS SDK for PHP v.3, while some other plugins still use old v.2. The problem is that those two versions are not compatible, see full article here.

Is there any way to make the two plugins work together?

I am working on a clients website. They used to have a paid UpdraftPlus account but no longer need the paid version.

UpdraftPlus continues to work fine but:
– I can no longer update the plugin
– How can I get rid of the message: Your paid access to UpdraftPlus updates for this site has expired. You will no longer receive updates to UpdraftPlus. To regain access to updates (including future features and compatibility with future WordPress releases) and support, please renew.

I never had this before: i just restored a database backup. Then it took quite a while for Updraft returning to the main screen. Turns out it loaded ALL backups, including the ones in Dropbox that belong to other websites. I know there is an addon to place all backups in seperate folders in Dropbox, but this was never necessary nor needed in my case. Now it loaded all backups from Dropbox, including some of websites I don’t longer have, from last year.

Hi,
I just imported the database dump via Plesk into a brand new database which was created with my new installation of WordPress. But nothing changed. The database did change its size, (it went from 2 MB to 400+ MB), but there is no contents on the site; no posts, or pages, or images. Is there another step to this?

AWS S3 Backups to Ningxia and Beijing AWS Fail

First of all, UpdraftPlus is a great plugin. We are trying to get it work with AWS S3 storage in Ningxia. I think the Amazon S3 option does not work at all for China, but the S3-Compatible almost works. We get this error message:

S3 settings test result: Failure: We successfully accessed the bucket, but the attempt to create a file in it failed. Please check your access credentials. (UpdraftPlus_S3::putObject(): [7] Failed to connect to amazonaws.com.cn port 443: Connection refused)

However, with identical S3 bucket settings for a bucket on Singapore AWS works fine:

S3 settings test result: Success: We accessed the bucket, and were able to create files within it. The communication with Amazon S3 was encrypted.

We’ve run out of things to try.

Any ideas?

Unfortunately our site is down for a few days now due to an overuse of CPU resources (using hostgator).

I have installed and setup dropbox as remote backup. and successfully generated backup and also verified by login into dropbox and checked all 5 zip files are backup in dropbox.

question is. how this backup process work? does backup process generate 2 copies of backup and store first copy in local hosting server ? and second copy in dropbox folder ???

or just 1 copy inside dropbox ? when activated remote backup option ???

and where local backups are stored ? in public folder ?? or where ??? is it available to download with all CHOMD permissions ??

Hello,

It is not possible to make a backup for my website. The plugin(UpdraftPlus) indicates that the backup has been done, but I don’t see any change. If I want to backup again, I get this message updraft_send_command: error: UpdraftPlus: could not parse the JSON (502). Do you know how I can solve this problem?

Hello. I have been using the updraft for a long time and unfortunately I have encountered some problems recently.

At the very beginning, copying worked very well and was done without a problem.

Later, copying began to take place with problems, freezes and lasting up to an hour, but finally the whole process was finalized.

Recently, I wanted to make another copy and despite waiting even 2-3 hours, nothing happens. Website size didnt change…..
Can anyone help me?

I’m trying to migrate my page from local server to my online domain but the index.html show a link saying:
“WordPress backups by UpdraftPlus“.
In addition, if I write some categories links manually in the top bar, I can’t saw them correctly.

Hi!

I have an issue with UpdraftPlus. When UpdraftPlus is active I cannot add/modify the featured image in an article. System says I have no right to do upload/download media but it works well in the media manager. It only happens when creating/editing an article.

When I deactivate UpdraftPlus everything works fine.

The website is working with Oxygen Builder Plugin 3.2.1 (lastest version), Polylang lastest version, UpdraftPlus lastest version, WordPress 5.4, etc.

Hi. Scince the beginning of April I’ve had problems with this ( amongst others ie. website crashed) I am very inexperienced!. I have now got website up and running but backup does not appear to be completing. I have Dropbox selected as remote storage but I don’t think it’s going there. I don’t use Dropbox normally and when I sign in there is nothing in there. Also, on the Backup/resore page of Updraft it shows
“Web-server disk space in use by UpdraftPlus: 1.7 GB refresh”
This figure goes up every time I try to back up.
Don’t know what to do now, and having spent ages recovering my website I don’t want to lose it again!

I am trying out Updraftplus.

In the official Updraftplus FAQ, you explicitly state that “The database is backed up into an ordinary SQL (text) file“. Source:

However, when I run an Updraftplus backup of my WordPress SQL database and download this backup locally, it seems always to have been compressed into a .gz format.

The fact that I could decompress the file with e.g. 7-zip nothwithstanding, your current FAQ appears to be misleading, wrong, or both. I have looked through the Updraftplus settings, but cannot find anything regulating database backup compression.

Would you please inform me how to use Updraftplus to backup the WordPress database directly into an uncompressed “ordinary SQL (text) file”?

If this is not possible, would you please change your current FAQ?

I manage this website on behalf of a client.

I have UpdraftPlus setup to use Google Drive. Al backups were working fine. I have noticed now that weekly backups have not been working since October.

I am getting the message “Backup directory specified exists, but is not writable.Follow this link to attempt to create the directory and set the permissions, or, to reset this option press here”. The settings on the “updraft” directory are 0775 so should be OK I think.

I also noticed the message “Exception (Google_IO_Exception) occurred during backup uploads to the googledrive. Exception Message: The stream IO handler requires the allow_url_fopen runtime configuration to be enabled (Code: 0, line 51 in /home/openhous/public_html/wp-content/plugins/updraftplus/includes/Google/IO/Stream.php)” in the log file. The option allow_url_fopen was not enabled. I have now enabled it.

I am still not able to get the backup to run.

Could it be there is not enough space for the backup? Any help is much appreciated?

Hi there. I am trying to backup my website to my google drive and getting an error.

Hi, I have multiple websites and I use Dropbox backups. Now I needed to restore one site to the previous backup, but a very strange problem became: a completely different site was restored. Then I had to completely delete the whole site, install a clean WP and do a new restore from the backup.

Never before have files been mixed with others that belong to another site.

I should bring attention to the fact this only seems to happen on our larger of the 6 sites we have on the same shared server, when I say ‘large’ though, it is only a grand total of about 1GB. But like I say, the backup appears to complete successfully anyway. All 6 sites are running real-cron jobs.
