zip warning: binziptest/test.zip not found or empty at every backup

Hi,

I am using the free version of UpdraftPlus, ver 1.13.4.

I have just moved wp-cron.php to a cron job as recommended, after having some problems.

I have already fixed a wp-cron.php mail saying “Can’t locate Cpanel/Quota.pm in @inc (@INC …” by adding
define(‘UPDRAFTPLUS_SKIP_CPANEL_QUOTA_CHECK’, true);
to the wp-config.php file.

Now, I am getting a new email from wp-cron.php every time it runs backups, with this message:
zip warning: binziptest/test.zip not found or empty at every backup

I’ve checked the UpdraftPlus log, and havve NOT find this warning.

Backups keep getting made and I hope they are good, but I would like to fix this warning.

Thanks for your time,
Domingo

We are successfully backing up to Dropbox, but a backup copy is also being placed onto our web host server. How do we prevent that?

Dropbox – Reauth

Hello. Every time a change is made to the Updraft settings, Dropbox authorization is required. This is a big pain when you manage 100s of websites. Is there a way around this?

Thanks,
Ryan

Problem after installing UpdraftPlus

I use UpdraftPlus on all my websites with no issues. I have just inherited a website transferred from another hosting company and installed Updraft Plus to make a backup. Now when I view the website online, it is not showing the home page but an editing version of the home page. De-activating the plugin does not make a difference.

Can anyone suggest why this might be happening? The first time it happened I had to ask my host to restore the site and now it has happened again.
I have again asked the host to try and fix it but I was wondering if anyone has come across a situation like this before.

Thanks

Getting Updraft to work smothly, on time, and fast

I have been looking at and for, automated backup solutions that works. Have tried several and none worked. They all stopped and started continuously, took hours, and did not produce a usable archive. Then I found your article about cron problems. I have a site that has little traffic and will have little traffic. It is designed mostly for subscribers who will be accessing it mostly in the daytime. They are few but important. Our breadline!

I have been doing manual backups and now need an automated backup that works fast, almost at the speed the data can be manually backed up, is able to run completely at night, and is reliable, not dependent on whether or not the site is busy. This is important. We want to run backups at night when there is little traffic like “normal” companies. We like the way your plug in is set up but have never gotten it to work, make a usable archive, either manually or on automatically.

To test for any plugin conflicts, I turned off ALL plugins except Updraft and ran it with manual settings. It produced about 18 useless archives over a period of about 4 hours by the time I stopped it. Kept restarting, each time producing a new archive. On automatic it’s worse yet. I scheduled a backup to start in the evening, to try it out. I let it run for hours before going to bed, thinking it might just be slow. When I returned in the morning it had produced over 4 gigs of useless files for a 400 meg site, but no finished product. That’s over 12 hours!

The company doesn’t mind paying for a plugin but that plugin must work first. Due to damages caused by a malicious tech who planted malware, we also have a strict security policy that does not allow for third parties to have access to the site. Any support must be done through on site admin(s).

Thanks.

Backup not saving to Dropbox

Hello. Today when I did a database backup through Updraft, the backup did not save to Dropbox even though it said it did. I did not have this issue the other day when I did a backup. Do you know why this is happening? Thank you.

Backups Http site not Https site

I recently updated my site to Https to make it more secure. I deleted my old api project and created a new one with the same name and updated the plugin as well. However, when automatic backups run it still copies the http site. But when I run manual backups it does the https version.

Any ideas? It should be noted that my past project is still waiting for approval before it is deleted. I use google drive for this as well.

New Backup for new install

Hi All
I am looking for some help with your plugin.
I am doing a new install for a new site and have found that your plugin installed fine, but does not initiate a backup.
I click on the “Back Up Now” button, but no backup actually starts.
It is the free version, which I have used for a year now on another site with no issues.

I have been having some issues with the new WP4.8 update and opted to start with the WP475.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Keyy log-in using url re-direct (wps hide log-in)

Hi,

I have installed your plugin as looking for a replacement for Clef. It works well apart from when I have WPS Hide Login plug-in activated. When setting up Keyy it doesn’t seem to recognise the re-direct is in place when setting up the QR code. With WPS Hide Login enabled it tries wp-login, not the hidden login. Is this an issue throughout, or is this handled within a paid version?

We get loads of attempted log-in attempts and have to rely on wordfence if wp-login is in use. We don’t get any with wps hide log-in active.

Many thanks

Groundhog Day with Dropbox

I am trying to restore a database backup to resolve a disappearing home page issue. When I go to the UpdraftPlus page on my WP site there is a message saying “UpdraftPlus notice: Follow this link to authorize access to your Dropbox account (you will not be able to back up to Dropbox without it).”
When I follow the link I end up on the updraft plus dropbox authorisation page with the message:
“An error (invalid_grant) occurred in trying to connect with Dropbox.
Error details: code has already been used”
I have no idea what to do as I have no control over what code is being used and yet I can’t access my backups without it, at least not without trying to restore everything manually. All the backup files are still on my PC in my dropbox folder so I guess that is ultimately an option.
I then have a button to press:
“Press the button below to return to your UpdraftPlus settings on the site http://iloveunsub.com.
The button will take you to: http://iloveunsub.com/wp-admin/options-general.php?page=updraftplus&error=invalid_grant&error_description=code+has+already+been+used
Return to UpdraftPlus”
When I pressed that I get either the same message as before or:
An error (invalid_grant) occurred in trying to connect with Dropbox.
Error details: code has expired (within the last hour)”

mp3 exclusion not working

Hi folks,

I’ve added a *.mp3 exclusion, but new backups still contain mp3s in the uploads subdirectories. Pic of settings: https://www.dropbox.com/s/u0vebuld5ya61yr/untitled.png?dl=0

Following your support docs, I added the exclusion in wp-config.php instead:
define(‘UPDRAFTPLUS_EXCLUDE_EXTENSIONS’, ‘mp3,mp4’);
But still, the subsequent backups contain mp3s.

Maybe it’s only a feature for pro users, but I thought I’d ask. The plugin is fully up-to-date at Version 1.13.4.

Thanks & regards,

Restore never seems to complete

I have just completed the first restore using my current setup.
Unfortunately, I find that I am concerned by the same issue I recall from using Updraft using a different setup some years ago…

Namely, when I restore, after clicking the Restore dialog, the browser wheel just goes around and around.

FYI, in this case, I was restoring database and files from Dropbox, from a backup taken by Updraft.
The page goes white, but the page operation stays alive. It feels like I could be waiting all day. Has it completed or not? The database is only about 7Mb.

When I log in to the backend using a different device, it seems like the restore operation completed successfully – at least, it seems. (The site is as it was at the backup point).

I don’t understand why Updraft isn’t closing things off and leaving the page operation as completed, rather than spinning around.

Complications with restoring full backup with Updraft

Hi everyone,

I only recently learned that the free version of Updraft only backs up the database and wp-content folder, not any WP core files or custom files outside the wp-content directory.

I have access to recent Updraft backups via Google Drive as well as a full site backup (done via cPanel) that is a little outdated. If I were to do a full restore of my cPanel using this backup, would I be able to somehow later implement the Updraft backups I have on hand in order to update the content quickly and save myself hours of working to manually update the pages and posts I’ve updated since the date of the old backup?

For example, could I restore the cPanel using the old (full) backup, then install Updraft, regain access to the Google Drive folder where my Updraft backups are, and then restore them from within the plugin in the Dashboard? Or some similar process?

If anyone needs clarification on the situation, please let me know.

I have been using this plugin since february, and have had no issues whatsoever. Any clue on what could be the problem?
Hope to hear from you soon.

Migration from dev to staging fails for various reasons

I purchased UpdraftPlus migrator to help me move a site from localhost to a shared hosting site. I followed the steps for the migration but screwed up the encryption key and I guess it’s lost forever unless there’s a way to re-generate a key on the staging site? (question #1)

I then tried to restore on the staging site from a backup on the localhost dev site which backs up to Google Drive. All went well until after the ‘uploads’ folder completed, when I got an upload error saying I needed to change the .htaccess file to increase upload limit. I don’t have a clue how or where to create or change this file. (question #2) Google searches for what to do lead me in circles of confusing/conflicting advice.

My staging site is on godaddy. Screenshots can be provided.

Zip Error when backing up using UpdraftPlus

So today I used UpdraftPlus for the first time to carry out a backup of my blog. I am backing up to Google Drive. However I received the following error:

Warning: A zip error occurred – check your log for more details
The backup apparently succeeded (with warnings) and is now complete (Jul 11 14:55:10)

I’ve had a look at the log but it’s really long and I don’t know where to look. Plus I’m not very techy and haven’t a clue what could be wrong.

The full log is too long to copy and paste using Pastebin, however I have managed to paste the first portion of the log file:

<script src=”https://pastebin.com/embed_js/bq1PGDyC”></script>

Would someone be able to take a look and see what I might need to do. I don’t know where to start!

Thanks,

Laura
