Updraftplus Restore doesn’t finish

I am trying to restore from an UpdraftPlus backup, using the plugin in WordPress. It has been running for most of the day. I just restarted it, and it goes quickly through Plugins and Themes, then does 3 of 6 Upload zip files. But it gets stuck on the 4th Upload zip file. I was on the phone with my hosting provider (Bluehost), and they did not see any problem like timeouts, or anything like that happening.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hey, is it possible to store the backup on an external server? If so, how?

Hello,
Updraft send me frequently this message:
Latest status: The backup attempt has finished, apparently unsuccessfully

I get this error for all of my ten or eleven websites. And when I check I get this:
Have not yet obtained an access token from Google – you need to authorise or re-authorise your connection to Google Drive.

Then, I have to re-do all the process of connection to google drive with the APIs keys. How can I solve this once for good, on all my websites?

What do I actually need to backup?

I’m using UpdraftPlus to try and backup my blog. I was getting an error message which suggested that I didn’t have enough space in my hosting account. I have checked with 1and1 and it looks like I have 2553MB left. Does this suggest that my backup is taking up a lot of space?

When doing my backup I was including plugins, themes, uploads & other directories. Do I actually need to backup these? Where is all the content of my blog posts held, i.e. the words, is this in the database? And what about images?

Just as a test I did a backup this morning of just the Database and it only took about a minute and worked fine with no errors.

So I’m not sure if I need all the other stuff. If the worst did happen and I needed to restore my blog would I just be able to re-add the theme and plugins manually?

What content does everyone else backup?

Thanks

Laura

Restore Old Backup (2 years old)

I have a backup made with updraftplus and I want to restore but I get the error that the backup file is too old and not compatible with the newer version of Updraftplus. Is there a way to convert the old backup file so it will be compatible with the latest Updraftplus version?

Confused about backup list in Current Status

Hello,

When viewing existing backups, there seems to be no way to tell what kind of a backup was done, e.g. Full or Database.

However, all of the backups offer all the restore options (DB, plugins, themes, etc).

How do people know which backup to restore? There’s nothing that differentiates the backup type.

Am I missing something?

Our site was unresponsive with the typical “cannot establish db connection” so investigating that, we noticed that the plugin is causing spikes in our CPU and Network traffic when it is activated.
We are running the latest version of the plugin.

Would it be trying to complete an backup? out of schedule? or doing some sort of phone home check? etc?

This is the error we are getting when we try to run a backup either manual or scheduled:

FTP backup connects but can’t create files..??

I have this plugin installed on multiple sites, each configured to backup to a local FTP server I have here. Initially all sites were working just fine. For some reason now I have one site that returns an error now, that it can connect to FTP but can’t create a file in the given directory.

The exact same configuration still works fine from other sites, though, with the same folder being used, so I’m not sure why this one site would suddenly be failing..??

When I hit the test button I get this:

FTP Test Fail

Here is the latest log file: https://pastebin.com/GrPGp4VZ

Again, the exact same configuration into the exact same folder works just fine from my other sites, and it worked just fine from this site up until about a week ago.

Any information on what could be going on here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Installed the UpdraftCentral too, but from this can´t make a full backup, it´s there backups only like: Themes, Uploads, Plugins, SQL.
Isn´t there a FULL All in one backup solution?

Why is it doing it daily and not weekly as I set it up? Dropbox is full again….

Backup files missing

I installed Updraft Plus back in November. At the time I ran a successful backup.

No one has run a backup since (I don’t manage the site).

Recently I went looking for the backup files to restore the database after a problem and discovered they are gone.

There is an updraft folder in wp-content. It has the log file from my backup in November indicating a successful backup.

But no backup files.

Any idea where they may have gone? Are there any clues in the log file I should look for? I see the file names, but they are all relative, so I’m assuming they should be in the same directory as the log file.

Thanks!

Uploading Large Files: Restore or Migrate

I was having an issue migrating a site with a huge upload file, over 400mb. My host had a limit of 128mb. After searching the web I couldn’t find a viable solution. Then I realized that I could break the upload folder into segments below 128mb by lowering the file size limit in the Updraft expert settings. I found I had to go well below the 128 limit to get the right file size for each chunk — 80mb finally worked. When I ran a manual backup, Updraft broke the upload folder into 4 chunks which were small enough to migrate the site on my new host.

Hi,

I have completed the steps to authenticate Dropbox, and have successfuly made a backup that was stored on dropbox.
But every time I make any change to the settings, I get the popup window asking me to authorize dropbox. (I’m just trying to change the number of backups to keep).

Why is this happening?

Hi, I just installed updraftplus on my website and set the backups to manual.

I started a backup (to google drive) and after about a minute got a message starting:
Unexpected response: <!DOCTYPE html> then what looked like the html “head” content of the site.

I had to OK the message then the backup continued and completed.

My question is what caused the unexpected response message and is the backup OK or corrupted?

I repeated the back up and the same thing happened.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,
In your website you say that one of the difference between Premium and Free is “Backup extra files and databases”.
In the free version the database can already be backup, what are the others files that you can bakcup when you are premium ?
Thanks 🙂
