Two backups and 21 backup files at the same time

Hi,

Updraftplus plugin appears to make a backup of my site twice on the same day. After successfully making a backup on 16:58 on 6 March 2020 it makes another one at 17:01. This causes my limited external storage space to be unnecessarily filled up quickly and the next scheduled backup attempts to fail.

All in all it makes a whopping 21 backup files at the same time when in the past it was rarely more than five backup files. It makes the following 21 backup files on my external store at dropbox:

I tried to look for something in the settings of the Updraftplus plugin to change but could not find anything unusual.

Backup failed and slows down the site

Help! Backup/switching hosts

I’m fairly new to my organization and have minimal web editing knowledge but am a quick study. We pay GoDaddy for our domain, and StartLogic to host. I find StartLogic to be less intuitive and want us to switch to GoDaddy for hosting. I also want to explore a new theme/web design via WordPress.

Do I need to make a back up in StartLogic? I’ve created a backup with UpdraftPlus in WordPress, which is uploaded to our Google Drive.

What steps do I need to take in switching hosts to make sure we don’t lose any information for our website or mess up the functionality?

I have been trying for weeks to backup my website. Both manual and scheduled backups never finish successfully. I have tried using Pingdom to help with the possibility of lacking traffic but after a week and a half, that has not seemed to work. I will mention that I am backing up to dropbox and there is more than enough available space and I have the most current free version of UpdraftPlus.

Someone, please tell me what steps I need to try! I am afraid to do any work on my site without a current backup.

Hello, I tried to backup my website but it could not be completet because there is not enough space on the server (I think this is the reason, I am not entirely sure). Anyways, after aborting the progress the server is still pretty full and in the wp-content/updraft folder there a couple of large zip-files (~ 300-400mb each) starting with “backup_YYYY_MM_DD_website…” (date of the unsuccessfull backup). Is it okay to delete these files by myself or will it affect UpdraftPlus and my website. Thanks for your answers already.

Hi, I was intalling Updraftplus plugin to test before buy it (AWS/bitnami stack wordpress site / WPresidence theme) and when ask me to choice to where to save backups, I chose Google drive, and some segund after that, system send me this email and all my site was broke, (I thing all was about request and set permissions )……..I read about how to resolve some common issue, and the only thing I did was to delete the Plugins but it was not enought, so before doing something wrong I decided to ask for your support.

Now there is a lot of work missing in my site.. I do not know if we can recovery it.

Can’t uninstall

Greetings. My subscription for the Clone extension expired and at this time it’s no longer needed. Secondary to the extension being installed, I cannot update to a new version. A search revealed that I should uninstall the plugin, then reinstall the free version. The problem is I can’t uninstall. When I make the attempt a window of sorts appear at the bottom of the screen. It contains options for indicating my reasons for uninstalling. None of those options work. There isn’t a URL attached to any of the choices, including the “skip” option. Clicking on them does nothing which results in the plugin still active, not working and me being unable to anything with it.

Backup non-WordPress tables?

Hi,

I just see a text in the free version said the premium version can backup non-WordPress tables as well. So, I just wonder what are called non-WordPress tables? I see in my WordPress database, there are standard tables created by WordPress, such as:

wp_posts

There are also tables created by plugins, such as:

wp_yoast_seo_links

In the backup log generated by the free version, it seems that the free version will backup both kinds of tables. So non-WordPress tables should be the tables without a “wp_” prefix(or the prefix defined in wp-config.php?

Where are the local backups stored in my server?

Hi,

I just use the plugin to make a backup on my server. Now, other than send the backup to a remote server such as Amazon S3 or MS Azure. I want to download a copy of the backup to my personal computer.

I find there are several options:

1. In dashboard, for a specific backup, I can download “Database”, “Plugin”, “Themes”, etc. one by one. However, this is very inconvenient. It is better to download all of them together.

2. I try to search for the FAQ, but all are saying “where is the backup stored on DropBox or Vault”, not mention where they are stored in local server.

What I want is just use ftp to login my server and if all files for a backup is stored in a folder, then I can just download that folder which includes everything. But there are no document mention that.

Updraft Creates Multiple “Uploads” Files

I have Updraft set to upload to my Dropbox. Everything works great except it creates four different zip files for my Uploads backup and labels them “uploads, uploads2, uploads3, uploads4”

The full names are below, for clarification:

Backup & Restore From MY PC ?

Hello –

Before I go “live” (or immediately after) I need a backup and continued backups.
UpdraftPlus seems to be THE Plugin to use. Before I download and activate it, I have some questions-

I’d like to backup and restore to my PCs local drive and/or external hard drive. I have LOTS of space and download/upload speed. I know it’s possible – but how ? Would I still be able to restore individual components i.e. theme, plugins, etc as shown in the videos ?

Hi! Since February the backup of my website with UpdraftPlus failed. I don’t know what’s wrong. We have tried:
– update the plugin
– install the plugin again
– change the split size from 400 mb to 50 mb and 10 mb

Here you can find the logs (php_debug, php_cgi_error and updraftplus).

Can you help me fix this problem? Thanks.

Updraft and DropBox Authentication issues

I am looking to send my backups to my Dropbox account. After following the Updraft prompt to “Save Settings” after selecting Dropbox as my remote storage location. I am now to the point where I am looking into my Dropbox settings, and Updraft.com is an allowed app- meaning there’s been acknowledgment between the two.

A new window appears with a button that I’m supposed to click to complete the process. I click it, supposedly redirected back to the my site to set-up my first backup. It instead has me log back into WordPress, bringing me back to the previous screen (Complete the process)… i click the button again and we go through the same thing over and over…

I’ve not found a way to exlude Mp3’s from my backups. I’ve tried everything google has sent me on searches.

Can I Migrate a backup of old website?

My hosting ended and I lost all the data of the website but I do have an Updraft Backup files.

Can I get the website back with the updraft migration plugin or is it only works for the website that are online and not lost?

Files storing on server even with “Delete backups” checked

My site is crashing because it is taking up too much server space. My backups are posting both on Dropbox as well as on the server. I have seen the instructions to check Delete Local Backup and I do have that set. However, it is still storing copies on the server.

Is there any guidance for how to handle this? Thanks! JJ
